LECTURE SERIES INTRO

I’ve been teaching writing for more than forty years, the last twenty-five in the MA in Writing Program at Johns Hopkins University, where I started out as an adjunct, moved into the position of fiction advisor, then to assistant director, and director of the program. In December of 2024, I retired from my position of associate director, although I still teach a course from time to time.

Over the years, I developed many lectures of the techniques and processes of writing fiction. I will be posting the text of these lectures here, usually one or two a month. If you have any thoughts or questions about these lectures, or any other aspect of writing fiction, feel free to contact me.
